Seven outdoor measurements, one clean neighborhood dashboard
The Ecowitt GW2001 combines a GW2000 Ethernet/Wi-Fi gateway with the WS90 outdoor sensor array. The outdoor unit uses an ultrasonic anemometer and piezoelectric rain sensor, so it has no traditional wind cups or tipping bucket.
When installed, this site will receive the gateway’s custom local upload, save observations to a private SQLite archive, and turn them into live cards, charts, records, and station-health information. No public-page changes will be needed for the handoff.
What will be measured in Twin Oaks
WH57 wireless lightning detector
The WH57 is a separate outdoor sensor that pairs wirelessly with the GW2000 gateway. For this North American station, the matching version is 915 MHz. It can detect lightning activity within about 25 miles, report the distance and time of the latest strike, count strikes for the day, and report its battery level.
The lightning readings can be stored on Twin Oaks Weather, uploaded to Ecowitt.net, and exposed to Home Assistant for phone alerts, speaker announcements, pool-safety automations, or lighting indicators. The sensor estimates distance but does not provide strike direction.
